I run a small online shop from Ajman selling ceramic goods and I swear I'm developing a twitch every time my phone buzzes with a photo message from a customer. At least once a week I'm looking at a picture of something that arrived broken even though I thought I packed it well enough. I've tried adding more bubble wrap, double boxing, even switching couriers, but nothing seems to make a consistent difference and it's starting to eat into my profits with all the refunds and replacements. I've been looking for useful advice for improving shipment safety because clearly my approach of just adding more padding isn't solving the root problem. I found an article recently that talked about how the fit of the box matters just as much as how much padding you use boxes that are too big mean items shift around during transit, boxes that are too tight mean the padding can't do its job properly. It made me realize I've been grabbing whatever box size is handy instead of being intentional about making sure everything fits exactly right. I'm planning to standardize on a few specific box sizes that actually match my most common product dimensions, and I'm curious if anyone else has made that shift and seen damage rates go down. What else made a difference for you beyond just box sizing?
