The Great Countertop Debate: Is Quartzite Really Worth the Extra Cash?

    Hi everyone,

my husband and I are finally remodeling our dated 1990s kitchen, and we have hit a major roadblock regarding our countertop selection.

I am completely in love with the dramatic, natural veining of authentic quartzite, but our contractor is pushing hard for engineered quartz instead, claiming it's far less prone to accidental chipping during installation.

The price difference between the two materials is honestly making my eyes water, and I don't want to make an incredibly expensive mistake. Has anyone lived with quartzite countertops through heavy family use? Do they stain as easily as marble?

    Thanksin advance.

We went through the exact same kitchen design dilemma during our recent home renovation project! Quartzite is a true natural stone, so it is significantly harder and more heat-resistant than engineered quartz, but it absolutely requires proper sealing once a year to prevent stubborn oil stains.

If you want a truly unique, luxury look, engineered materials just cannot replicate those deep, beautiful natural layers. Our installation team handled the slabs beautifully without a single issue. If you want to view a gallery of finished custom kitchens featuring both materials side-by-side to help you decide, please feel free to See our work.
