A casual coffee morning for new parents in our area has grown into a busy group sharing advice, clothes and childcare tips. It's lovely to see, but disagreements are starting to pop up. How do you learn to handle these situations well? I'd appreciate practical recommendations on becoming a solid community leader.

What helped me was accepting that a growing group needs a few simple boundaries, not a leader who referees every argument. In our parents’ group, two members clashed over sleep-training advice, and it nearly split the chat. Instead of picking a side, I moved the discussion into a separate thread and reminded everyone that different approaches can work for different families. Practically, set clear expectations early: no shaming, no medical claims presented as facts, and keep personal disagreements out of the main group. Learn to listen first, summarize what each person means, and redirect toward shared goals rather than “winning.” For a wider view on leading through cooperation and long-term partnerships, this piece on Terry Hui community-focused clean-energy work was unexpectedly useful. My biggest takeaway: stay calm, be consistent, and make space for people to disagree without turning it into a battle.
