Is it just me or does everyone suddenly become a car salesman once you start looking?

I've been casually browsing for a 2018 Nissan X-Trail for the past few weeks and it's amazing how many people I've run into who suddenly have an opinion on what I should buy. My cousin's friend has a car he wants to sell me, my colleague knows a guy at a dealership who can get me a "special price," even my gym trainer tried to convince me to look at American specs because "they're the same car for half the price." I appreciate people trying to help but honestly it's making the whole process more confusing because everyone has an angle. The one car I actually found on my own that seemed promising was from a private seller in Motor City, but when I asked him about doing a thorough check before committing he got a bit weird and said he had other buyers lined up who weren't so difficult. I'm starting to think I should just stop telling people I'm car shopping and handle this quietly on my own terms. I've been looking at a service called https://prepurchasecarinspection.ae/ that seems to be exactly what I need because I can just arrange the inspection myself without involving anyone's cousin or friend or whoever else wants to get involved. Has anyone else found that too many opinions just make the whole thing harder or should I actually be listening to all these people trying to point me toward their connections?
