Is a Mini Split the Right Choice for Southwest Florida Homes?

I’ve been looking into different cooling options lately because the heat and humidity here in Southwest Florida can be pretty intense, especially in spaces like garages, workshops, or home additions that don’t stay cool with a regular central system.
From what I’ve seen, a lot of homeowners are now turning to mini split specialists in Southwest Florida for more flexible and efficient solutions. These systems seem to work really well for targeted cooling and heating without the need for extensive ductwork, which is a big plus for older homes or upgraded spaces.
What I like most is that mini splits can be sized for specific rooms, so you’re not overcooling the entire house just to fix one hot area. It feels like a practical option for both comfort and energy savings in this climate.
Has anyone here actually switched to a mini split setup? I’d be interested to hear how it’s performing during the peak summer heat.
