Hit 40 and my skin completely changed — took me a year to figure out what it actually needed

Hey everyone! So I turned 40 last year and honestly nobody warned me how drastically your skin changes once you hit that milestone. In my 30s I could get away with a basic moisturizer and SPF and my skin looked fine. But somewhere around my late 30s things started shifting — more dullness, fine lines around my eyes and mouth, and my skin just stopped bouncing back the way it used to.
I spent a good chunk of last year trying random products and honestly wasting money on things that were either too light to make a difference or too heavy and clogging my pores. The marketing around anti aging is so overwhelming that it's hard to know what's actually worth your money.
What I eventually learned is that skin in your 40s needs a very specific kind of attention — ingredients like retinol, peptides, and niacinamide work very differently on mature skin compared to younger skin. You can't just grab any anti aging product and expect results.
After a lot of research I found this collection really useful best anti aging cream for 40s it's specifically curated for this age group which made narrowing things down so much easier.
My skin has genuinely improved over the past few months — more even tone, better texture and the fine lines around my forehead are visibly softer. Consistency is everything though.
Would love to hear from others in their 40s — what has actually worked for you? Any ingredients or products you wish you had started earlier?
