Dealer says I need a transmission flush – is it really necessary?

I took my 2015 A4 to the dealership for a minor service and they hit me with a recommendation for a transmission flush at 90,000 km, saying it's "critical" for the multitronic box, but the quote was nearly 2,500 AED which seems crazy for just draining fluid and changing a filter. I've been reading that some people say never flush an older Audi transmission because it can dislodge debris and cause slipping, while others say it's essential for longevity. What I'm really looking for is a proper Audi Transmission Flush Service Abu Dhabi that doesn't cost a fortune but also uses the correct spec fluid and follows the right procedure, not just a quick drain and fill. Has anyone here done this on a B8.5 A4 and noticed a real difference in smoothness, or should I just leave it alone if it's shifting fine? I don't want to create problems by being too cautious or too careless. Any honest advice from owners who've been through this would help a lot.

90,000 km on a multitronic is actually a reasonable point for a fluid change. The "never flush an older transmission" advice applies more to neglected boxes, not ones serviced on schedule.

2,500 AED at a dealer for a drain and fill with filter is steep. A specialist who uses the correct ATF spec fluid will do the same job for significantly less without cutting corners.

The debate about flushing vs drain and fill is real. A full flush on a high mileage neglected multitronic can cause issues, but a proper drain, filter change, and refill at 90k is generally safe and beneficial.

Most important thing is using the correct fluid spec for the multitronic. Wrong fluid even at the right interval causes more damage than skipping the service entirely. Make sure whoever does it knows the exact ATF required.

If it's shifting fine right now a drain and fill with filter change is the sensible move, not a full flush. Save the dealer markup and find a specialist who follows the correct procedure without the inflated price tag.
