Anyone installed a man door on a shipping container?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on converting a shipping container into a small workshop, and one thing that quickly became obvious is how inconvenient the original container doors are for daily use. They’re fine for storage, but not great when you’re going in and out all the time.
At first, I considered just installing a regular residential door, but the more I looked into it, the more it felt like a bad idea structurally. Containers aren’t really designed for that kind of modification without extra work.
So I started searching for something made specifically for this and came across a Shipping Container Man Door Kit. It looks like it’s actually built for container conversions, not just a modified standard door. The fact that it comes pre-framed and matches the container structure is a big plus.
What stood out to me:
- no-weld installation option (which is great if you don’t have welding gear)
- solid lock and weather sealing already included
- seems like a cleaner, more “professional” finish
- saves time vs building everything from scratch
From what I understand, installation is pretty straightforward - cut the opening, fit the frame, secure it (either rivet or weld), and seal it up.
Just wondering if anyone here has used something like this before?
How does it hold up over time in terms of durability and weatherproofing?Would really appreciate any feedback or tips
