Almost fell over when I saw the dealership service bill

I took my car to the official dealership for its scheduled service because I thought I was doing the right thing maintaining the service history. The bill was absolutely insane over two thousand dirhams for what seemed like basic checks and an oil change. I nearly had a heart attack at the counter. My colleague at work laughed at me and said I need to discover quality vehicle servicing in Dubai without the dealership markup. He sent me an article about industrial area workshops that use genuine parts and have trained mechanics but charge reasonable rates because they don't have the fancy showroom overhead. I'm definitely trying that next time. Has anyone else made the switch from dealership servicing to independent workshops and actually saved money without sacrificing quality?
